About Leonardtown Rotary
  • The Leonardtown Rotary was chartered in 1986.

  • Rotary is an international organization with over 30,000
    clubs worldwide. The first Rotary club was founded by
    attorney Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905 with the goal of
    promoting ethical business practices. The name Rotary
    comes from the original practice of rotating the meeting
    place among members’ places of business.

  • Leonardtown Rotary’s signature local project is the “Service with a Smile”, a fluoride
    rinse program promoting healthy teeth for third graders in St. Mary’s County schools.
  • With the gracious support of Ms.Rita Gelma, author of Tales of a Female Nomad,
    the club has provided 6 students with scholarships funding post high school
    technical education. Members of the New Delhi Rotary assist by prviding
    councilors to the students. SInce 2009, $45,000 in scholarships have been
    awarded.
