- The Leonardtown Rotary was chartered in 1986.
- Rotary is an international organization with over
30,000 clubs worldwide. The first Rotary club was founded by attorney Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905 with the goal of promoting ethical business practices. The name Rotary comes from the original practice of rotating the meeting place among members’ places of business.
- Leonardtown Rotary’s signature local project is the
“Service with a Smile”, a fluoride rinse program promoting healthy teeth for third graders in St. Mary’s County schools. Recently the club is participated in a clean drinking water project in Honduras with the Rural Water Association and Rotary International . This project provided water to nine villages and approximately 2000 people.
